How this is worked out
We multiply guest count by a per-head figure for your chosen tier, then split the total using typical UK event spending proportions: venue and hire usually take the largest share, followed by catering, with drinks, entertainment and a contingency fund making up the rest.
Worked example
80 guests at the mid-range tier (£85/head) gives a total budget of £6,800. That splits into roughly £2,380 for venue and hire, £2,040 for catering, £1,020 for drinks, £680 for entertainment, and £680 held back as a contingency.

Should I always keep a contingency fund?
Yes — unexpected costs (weather cover, last-minute guest changes, overtime) are common. A 10% buffer is a widely used minimum.
Does this include the wedding dress, rings, or gifts?
No — this covers the event itself (venue, catering, drinks, entertainment). Personal items like attire and rings are usually budgeted separately.
