How this is worked out
We add a 10% buffer (minimum 2 extra bags) so you don't run short if siblings or unexpected guests appear. Items per bag scale with budget: 3-4 items at the lowest tier up to 6-7 at the highest. A slice of cake is included as a freebie if the age group is under 8. Total cost is bags × budget per bag.
Worked example
15 children at £3 per bag: make 17 bags (15 + 2 spare). At that budget, you can fit about 5 items per bag — a small toy, stickers, sweets, a balloon and a mini pencil set. Total cost: roughly £51.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need party bags for every child?
It's expected at children's parties in the UK, but there's no rule. For under-4s, one or two items and a slice of cake is plenty. Older children appreciate fewer but better items over a bag stuffed with fillers.
What should go in a party bag?
A mix of something to eat, something to play with, and something to keep. At £2-4 per bag: sweets, stickers, a small toy, a balloon, and a slice of cake. Above £5: swap in a craft kit, colouring book, or character item.
Should I make different bags for different ages?
If there's a wide age range, yes — toddlers need items without small parts, and over-8s will notice if they get "baby" toys. Two tiers is usually enough.
